Win A Complimentary Makeover with Hair and Makeup, A Glamour or Boudoir Photo Shoot, and A Premium Quality Photo Book. Just In Time For Valentine's DayYay, two of my favorite holidays are here, Christmas and Valentine's Day. Both holidays are perfect for spending time with the people you love and sharing gifts as a token of appreciation. Some have argued that Valentine's Day is a "Hallmark holiday", created by greeting card companies to sell more cards. To me Valentines day is all about love. However, many years ago that was not the case. It was more about me giving a gift to the special someone in my life and then getting dumped by them shortly after. It is definitely hard being a hapless romantic. Growing up I was dumped not once but twice within a week after Valentine's Day. I would give my girlfriend a lovely gift and then they would give me the boot. My bad luck with relationships began was when I was in 6th grade. My first girlfriend, let's call her "Sammantha". At the time I didn't know much about Valentine's Day. I just knew that we would share those silly little cards with everyone in our classroom at school. You know those Valentine cards with pictures of Mickey Mouse, Care Bears, or Transformers on them. They were definitely not romantic. So my father took me to store to purchase a "real" card and a present for Sammantha. I remember picking out a gold heart shaped charm and a necklace to put it on. I was 12 and didn't have any money to buy it so my father paid for it. When Valentine's Day comes and I give Sammantha her nicely wrapped present and card in our classroom. In return she gives me a hug but a few days later she dumps me. This is not exactly the way I thought it to go. We went from talking on the phone for hours every day to absolutely NOTHING. I felt so bad, but was more upset because my father spent his money on her gift. The second time I got dumped was by my real first love, let's call her "Robin". I was seventeen and she was my world. We were always together. Holding hands walking through the mall, at the movies, ice skating, bowling, or at the park. We even worked together. We dated for about a year and everything was cool, until Valentine's Day came around. I gave her earrings and perfume and I get dumped a few days later. AGAIN!!! Oh well. I wanted to share my stories with you because after all of these years I still remember the horrible feeling of getting dumped shortly after the holidays. But this blog post is not about me, it is really about you. Has an experience like this ever happened to you? Have you ever been dumped shortly after Christmas, Valentine's Day, or after giving an expensive gift to the person that you are in love with? If so, share your story. The person with the best "getting dumped" story will receive:
