Close up flower photography at the Missouri Botanical Garden
As a child growing up in St. Louis, Missouri, my school would take field trips to the Missouri Botanical Garden. It seems as if we went there twice every school year. As a kid I didn't care about the flowers at the garden, I simply enjoyed the time of being away from school.
I never payed much attention to flowers until I became a photographer. Now they are my guilty pleasure. I was fortunate to make it back to the Missouri Botanical Garden last summer and here are some photos I took.
I told myself that I would only use my macro lens while I was there at the garden. A macro lens allows you to focus on the critical parts of the photo and blur everything else at distance.
The quote on this sign is from George Washington Carver. I had to change back to my zoom lens to photograph it since my macro lens would not focus on it completely. Although I broke my rule of only using my macro lens, I found this too great of a shot to pass up.
